The Nilgiris: With the gardens and parks in Nilgiris opened to tourists from the 9th of this month, there aren't many tourists visiting.

Gardens and Parks in the district including Ooty Botanical Garden were closed due to COVID-19. They have been presently opened, but they appear deserted with little to no tourists.

The Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Coonoor Sims Park, Kotagiri Nehru Park and Katary Park were all closed and reopened on September 9. The district administration advised to register as a tourist when receiving E-passes. In addition, they are issued to only 50 tourists per day.

The famous lawns in the Botanical Gardens are deserted as people get E-passes not only to visit OOty but to several places in the district like Coonoor and Kotagiri.

Traders who depend on tourism have been hit hard due to the lack of tourists.
