COVID-19: Tamil Nadu reports 6,006 recoveries to 5,519 new cases

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported a spike of 5,519 new COVID-19 cases and 77 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 4,91,571 and death toll to 8,231 the State Health Department said.



Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported a spike of 5,519 new COVID-19 cases and 77 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 4,91,571 and death toll to 8,231 the State Health Department said.

Out of fresh cases reported today, 987 were from State Capital Chennai.

As of September 11 evening, cumulatively 4,91,571 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 8,231 deaths and 4,35,422 discharges including the 6,006 recoveries today, the Health Department said in its bulletin.

A total of 55,32,526 samples have been tested so far, out of which 82,891 were tested today alone.

Including the 394 cases today, Coimbatore has an overall case tally of 21,233.

While Tirupur logged 124 cases, The Nilgiris posted 90.
