Coimbatore woman lodges complaint against husband and in-laws for dowry harassment - Mahila court orders to file case

Coimbatore: A case was filed against husband and in-laws for dowry harassment as per Mahila court order based on a complaint lodged by a Coimbatore woman.


Coimbatore: A case has been registered against the husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law who abused a Coimbatore woman for dowry as per the order of the Mahila Court.

Rithish, who lives in the Arul Garden area of Selvapuram, Coimbatore, has been married to Annapoorni from Kodambakkam, Chennai for the past two years. During the wedding, Annapoorni's parents provided a dowry of 2 kg of gold, 58 kg of silver and 66 carat diamonds.

Meanwhile, Annapoorani's husband Rithish, Mother-in-law Kalpana and Father-in-law Srikanth had compelled Annapoorani to get more jewels and a four-wheeler from her parents. She was ill-treated with no proper food and was sent to her native place in 2019. Annapoorani then filed a complaint at the Mahila court. Upon orders of the Mahila court. RS Puram police have filed a case and are investigating.
