Coimbatore: Bajaj Finserv customers laid siege to the company's office alleging that the company uses goondas to threaten them and recover loans.

More than 50 customers besieged the Bajaj Finserv Company on the Coimbatore Race Course Road. Borrowers said they had been living without a livelihood for the past six months after the lockdown was imposed due to a coronavirus infection. They accused that goondas are used to threaten them to pay their dues immediately. They said the goondas speak in an abusive manner to women.

Prabhakaran, a resident of Edayarpalayam, said that he had taken a loan from the company in 2018 to buy a new car and paid Rs. 5620 a month. He said he was being threatened as he was not able to pay post curfew from the month of February. they said due to lockdown taxis autos were not in operation making it very difficult for them to pay the dues. They said it was not right to threaten to pay immediately and asked the government to intervene and provide 6 months time for the financial situation to improve.

Race Course police immediately reached the spot upon information. The officials from the company were not up for negotiation which caused a stir in the area. They said many such borrowers from financial institutions in Coimbatore district have been affected and hence appealed to the district administration and the state government to take appropriate action against such companies.
