Supreme Court to hear TN government's appeal in Udumalaipettai Shankar honour killing case

Coimbatore: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal filed by the TN Government in the Udumalaipettai Shankar honour killing case.



Coimbatore: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the appeal filed by the TN Government in the Udumalaipettai Shankar honour killing case.

The Supreme Court bench led by Justice SK Kaul has agreed to hear the appeal filed by the TN Government against the acquittal of a man who was accused of killing his daughter's Kausalya's husband Shankar as he belonged to a lower caste in Udumalaipettai, Tamilnadu.

The bench noted that the case "certainly requires consideration".

Earlier a division bench of the Madras HC had acquitted the man and set aside all the charges including that of criminal conspiracy.
