House broken into in Coimbatore: 30 lakh and 10 sovereigns of gold looted

Coimbatore: Rs. 30 lakh in cash and 10 sovereigns of gold were stolen by breaking open a locked house. Duraisamy (70) is a retired private sector employee living at the Chitra Nagar area of Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. He left out of town for a wedding at his relative's house a few days ago.

When he returned to Coimbatore today, he was shocked to find the door of his house broken open. He found that Rs. 30 lakh and 10 sovereigns of jewelry had been stolen from the wardrobe.

Police are investigating based on the complaint by Duraisamy. It was revealed that he had 30 lakhs of cash on from selling a farm.

Fingerprint experts collected dusted for prints. Police are investigating whether any known former culprits were involved in the robbery. The incident of breaking the lock of the house and looting money and jewelry has caused fear amid the people at the area.
