Kashmir Lawrence (50) and his wife from the Arumuga Nagar in Ramanathapuram were standing in the area when the pillion rider of a two wheeler snatched the cellphone from the lady's hand and tried to flee. However, the shocked lady screamed and got the attention of the public who attempted to catch the thieves. While the rider got away, the pillion rider was caught and was handed over to the Race Course Police.

Investigations revealed that the boy was 17 years old and belonged to Udayampalayam and that the person who rode the bike was a 16 year old from the Varadharajapuram area. Further investigations revealed that they have an accomplice Nagaraj (20), who was also involved in thefts. Three two wheelers and cellphones were seized from them and it was also revealed that they were involved directly in a lot of thefts.

Following this, cases were filed against all the three and they were presented at the court. The boys were sent to the Juvenile Detention Center and Nagaraj was lodged at the Central Prison.
