Coimbatore: All vehicles that come to the Kinathukadavu Vegetable market will be permitted only after disinfectants are sprayed informed the Town Panchayat Administration.

Farmers in the areas of Kinathukadavu and the surrounding regions near Pollachi primarily cultivate rainfed crops such as tomatoes, green chillies and beans in large quantities.

These produce are brought to the vegetable market near the Kinathukadavu New Bus stand for auction and sale. Vegetables from this market are taken to Kerala and other states for sale. Farmers and traders bring goods vehicles to the market to buy and sell the vegetables.

Since the Tamilnadu government has advised check-ups in crowded places to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the vehicles that come to the Kinathukadavu vegetable market are sprayed with disinfectants on behalf of the Kinathukadavu Town Panchayat.

The people who come in the vehicles are tested for their body temperature before being permitted into the market. Further, the Town Panchayat also levies a fine of Rs.100 to those who arrive at the market without face masks.
