The Nilgiris: At a press meet organised by the Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya, it was informed that the public can come into the Nilgiris for employment purposes; however tourists are not permitted into the district.

The Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya met the press. In the meet she said, " All the tourist spots in the Nilgiris district are closed down. People can come into Nilgiris for employment; however, they cannot come into the district for tourism. Cottages and resorts will be permitted to reopen.

The E-pass system will continue to be in place in the Nilgiris District. Action has been taken to make it available more easily. The public of Nilgiris are requested to avoid unnecessary travel. Public transport between districts will operate from today. Those people presenting themselves with symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted to travel on the buses. Places of worship will be permitted to reopen and the public can visit them for worship."

She added, "People in Nilgiris who show symptoms of COVID-19 should come forward to get themselves tested as this can save their lives. Out of the 10 who succumbed to COVID-19 in the Nilgiris, eight were late admissions, which led to complications and death. Hence, those with symptoms of COVID-19 must get themselves tested voluntarily, immediately."

She also informed, "An Adivasi woman was attacked by a tiger in the Singara Forest area near Mudumalai. We do not know if it is a man eater; therefore, we have ordered for cameras to be installed to monitor the movement of the tiger."
