Coimbatore: Forest department arrested miscreants who used country explosives to hunt animals at registered lands around Mettupalayam.

Coimbatore: Forest department arrested miscreants who used country explosives to hunt animals at registered lands around Mettupalayam.

In the past few months hunters have been using a country explosive called "outtukaai" to hunt wild boar and deer.On the 15th of this month the hunters have used the destructive material to hunt wild boar at registered lands near Kallar forest area. They had thrown it near the river beds to capture animals.

A cow owned by Jaffer Ali was killed as its mouth blasted after it ate the explosive that was thrown for wild animals. A complaint was lodged with the forest department and upon investigation it was found that country-made explosives were used. After investigation the police arrested 3 people associated with the case.

Srikanth, Krishnan from Kendaiyur Mettupalayam and Gunasekaran from DasampalayamMettupalayam have been arrested on the basis of information obtained by the Forest Department during the investigation on people who visited the area in recent times. Mettupalayam Forest Department has filed a case under five sections under the Wildlife Conservation Act and remanded the trio. The Forest Department is on the lookout for another accused who has absconded.
