Coimbatore: Special medical camps have been ordered to be conducted at all villages in Pollachi to monitor COVID-19 and Dengue spread under the orders of the Pollachi Sub- Collector.

With the spread of COVID-19 increasing day by day in Pollachi, an advisory meeting led by the Pollachi Sub Collector Vaithiyanathan was held in the Pollachi Municipal office meeting hall today.

Municipal Commissioner Gandhiraj, Tahsildars of Pollachi, Kinathukadavu and Valparai regions, Police officials, Panchayat Union officials and health department officials took part in the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting the Pollachi Sub-Collector said, "COVID-19 is spreading rapidly in the city and the villages in Pollachi. To control this and to monitor the spread separate teams have been formed with the officials in the Police department, Health department and the Revenue Department. Panchayat Union officials and Health Department officials have been advised to conduct these special medical camps in the rural areas to identify COVID-19 and dengue fever in the area through these camps. "

"Further details of the medical camp must be intimated to the Control room at the Sub-Collector's office before 4PM everyday. Frontline field workers in Pollachi such as government employees, officials, doctors and nurses are all being affected by COVID-19. Hence the Indian Medical Association must identify one private hospital which is well equipped with all facilities, in Pollachi, to offer them treatment", he said.

He also said, "Those areas where the infected patients reside must be fumigated and these areas must be brought under the complete control of the Revenue department and the Health department. The medical teams in these areas must monitor these vigilantly. Further, 100% of the public must wear face masks and the authorities must take measures to penalise those spotted without facemasks, with Rs.200", he ordered.
