Coimbatore: Thieves broke through the back door and stole 10 sovereigns of gold and 7000 in cash from the wardrobe kept in house.
Senthil Nathan lives in Krishnapuram area next to Karumathampatti in Coimbatore district. He along with his wife Kalavathi and children went to a relative's wedding in Palladam, Tirupur district last Saturday. When everyone returned home on Sunday after the wedding, they were shocked to find that the wardrobes in both the bedrooms were open and the items were strewn across the room.
They also found that 10 sovereigns of gold jewelry and Rs 7,000 had been stolen from the wardrobes in the bedroom. They immediately informed the Karumathampatti police. The police arrived along with fingerprint experts for investigation.
During the first level of investigation, it was revealed that the robbers came in through the back of the house and had easily opened the wardrobe and stolen the jewelry and money as there was a spare key in the bedroom.
Police are investigating with the help of the fingerprints recorded if it was a repeat offence by criminals or if someone new was involved. Karumathampatti police have registered a case and are investigating.
