Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary: TN Congress starts 2021 election campaign from Tirupur

Tirupur: While tributes are pouring in from all quarters across the globe on Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 76th birth anniversary, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committe has commenced their 2021 election work at Tirupur, today.

KS Alagiri, President of Tamil Nadu Congress along with Working Presidents, Executive Committee members and cadres paid floral tribute to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi placed jn Rayapuram area of ​​Tirupur and initiated the 2021Assembly election campaign.

Speaking to the reporter, KS Alagiri, recalled the tragic incident in Coimbatore, where a student committed suicide on August 19 due to alleged fear of NEET exam. He urged that TN government should atleast now act swiftly to ban NEET in Tamil Nadu which has drawn wide spread criticism from students and educationalists."



He added that as rightly pointed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the centre should be in a position to allow states to decide on NEET. 

"The AIADMK government should either negotiate or fight with the central government to secure the interests and rights of the state. Otherwise, it will be next to impossible for AIADMK to face the upcoming assembly elections," he said.

Ranjarajan Mohan Kumaramangalam, Working President of TN Congress and President of Salem Youth Congress,

Krishnan, Tirupur District Congress President, Gopi (North) Congress District head and others were present.

In memory of his father, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted, "Rajiv Gandhi was a man with a tremendous vision, far ahead of his times. But above all else, he was a compassionate and loving human being. I am incredibly lucky and proud to have him as my father. We miss him today and every day," Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet.
