Five Colleges from Coimbatore feature in Atal Rankings under various categories



Coimbatore: Five Colleges from Coimbatore have secured top five lists in various categories in ARIIA 2020, an initiative of Ministry of Education (MoE).

With an objective to rank higher education institutions and universities in India, by taking into consideration various major indicators, globally used to rank most innovative education institutions/ universities in the world, Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements 2020 (ARIIA), an initiative from the Ministry of Education has announced the Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020, on Tuesday.

The ARIIA 2020 rankings were released on Tuesdayby Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi, through video conferencing.

Five Colleges and one University from Coimbatore have featured in the top five lists in various categories. The Indian Institute of Madras, or IIT Madras, again topped the rankings of Best Centrally Funded Institutions.

For the first time, ARIIA 2020 rankings had a special prize category for women-only higher educational institutions, under which Coimbatore'sAvinashilingam Institute For Home Science And Higher Education For Women ranked first in the Higher Educational Institutions exclusively under Women's Category.

Under the Government and Government-aided College and Institutes, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women from Coimbatore ranked third and fifth respectively.

And, Coimbatore-based Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was listed in the top five Private or Self-Financed Universities’ category.

While, Sri Krishna College of Technology and the Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology was ranked fourth and second in the self-financed private institute's category.

About ARIIA 2020

ARIIA is an initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE) which is implemented by AICTE and Ministry’s Innovation Cell, Government of India.

Infrastructural facilities, awareness and promotion of idea generation and innovation, entrepreneurship promotion and support, IP generation, technology transfer and commercialization, Innovation learning methodology and courses and Innovation in governance in institutions, were the parameters based on which the institutions were ranked.
