Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu keeps inching towards the 6,000 new cases a day even as COVID19-related deaths shot up in the State, the State Media Bulletin confirmed. As many as 5,795 people tested positive for the infection today, taking the total tally to 3,55,449 in the state.

State Capital Chennai registered 1,186 fresh cases. At 394 cases, Coimbatore continues to maintain an upward trend so far as single-day jumps go. While Tirupur logged 61 cases, The Nilgiris posted 35 cases.
On the brighter side, the number of recoveries stood at 6,384, taking the total count of recoveries to 2,96,171 in the State.
