Coimbatore: Police are investigating an incident in which 13 street dogs were poisoned to death in the Kanuvai region in Coimbatore.
Public in Indira nagar Periyanaickenpalayam, in the Kanuvai area next to Coimbatore's Thudiyalur, was shocked when they woke up yesterday morning to find street dogs lying dead and a few dogs fighting for their lives.
Immediately, they informed the Pannimadai panchayat administration and the Animal Welfare Board about the death of the dogs. Panchayat officials and Animal Welfare Board officials rushed to the spot and inspected the dead dogs. It was revealed that these dogs may have died from eating poisoned chicken waste. Subsequently, the dead dogs were taken for autopsy.
Further, the public and National Animal Welfare Board officials have lodged a complaint with the Thadagam police. Following the complaint, the Thadagam police is investigating on who poisoned the chicken waste.
The incident in which 13 dogs were poisoned to death in the same area has caused a stir in the area.
