COVID-19: Recoveries outnumber new cases in Tamil Nadu! State death toll continues to soar

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Sunday reported 5,950 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the State's tally to 3,38,055, State Health Bulletin said.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Sunday reported 5,950 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the State's tally to 3,38,055, State Health Bulletin said.

As many as 6,019 more people were discharged from various healthcare facilities, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,78,270. The number of active cases in the State stood at 54,213 while the overall death toll in the state soared at 5,766 with 125 more fatalities, the bulletin added.

Chennai continued to top the chart as 1196 more people tested positive for the virus, taking the State Capital's tally to 116650.

Cause for concern is the news that Coimbatore posted its highest ever single-day spike of 395. The case tally for the district climbed to 8,967. Tirupur registered 34 news cases and The Nilgiris 24.

All the districts in the State have registered new cases for days together now.
