In view of the increasing COVID-19 infections, the district administration is undertaking various measures to curb the spread. State and district boundaries have been brought under surveillance and vehicular inspections are conducted day and night.

Under the circumstances, a private bus carrying 25 passengers from Maharashtra was stopped and interrogated this morning. It was found that it had a permit from Maharashtra to Madurai, but without any permission from the district administration, a few passengers were dropped off at Neelambur without being tested.

Police are investigating the matter. There are complaints against luxury bus travel agencies that they are ferrying passengers and dropping them off in nearby districts without proper E-passes.
