Tirupur: 33 COVID-19 cases were reported in Tirupur today. Two fatalities have also been reported.
Tirupur reported 33 new COVID-19 cases today taking the total tally of cases in the district to 600. There are 294 active cases while 15 people were discharged today.
The total number of home quarantine cases were 2,877 with the addition of the 178 newly added cases. The number of people who completed the 14-day quarantine stands at 178. Further samples for testing were collected from 993 people today.
Two COVID-19 deaths were reported today in Tirupur. One of the cases was that of a 59-year-old male from Priyanka Nagar. He was admitted at a private hospital in Tirupur on July 21 with symptoms such as fever and cough. He tested positive for COVID-19 following which he was shifted to Tirupur GH on July 22 for treatment. However he passed away today.
The second fatality was a 71-year-old man from SV Colony in Tirupur. He was being treated at a private hospital in Coimbatore from July 9 and tested positive for COVID-19 on July 11. He passed away on the night of July 22.
