TNAU sees sesame farm gate price at 50-52 per kg

The domestic and export market intelligence cell of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has estimated the farm gate price for sesame seeds anywhere at 50-52 per kg this season. The estimate was arrived at based on the analysis of prices of sesame seeds prevailed in Sivagiri market for the past 12 years.

However, Solvent Extractor's Association of India has estimated the current stock of sesame seeds at 3.14 lakh tonnes. "Prevailing prices of Indian sesame seeds is 30% less compared to last year, and according to traders, the price is expected to dip further.
