Woman, child found dead

S. Valliammal (32) of MGR Nagar in Keerapalayam, Madukkarai, and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Saisree were reportedly found dead in their house in the late hours of Wednesday. According to Madukkarai police, the woman suffered from mental illness. Her husband Sathish Kannan had gone to work in the morning, and the mother and child were at home.

In the evening, her neighbours noticed water seeping out from the house and there was no response from Valliammal when they knocked the door. On breaking open the door, they found her hanging and the child dead. Reason for their deaths is under investigation. Their bodies were sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination.

Booked for damaging bus

Two unidentified persons riding a motor cycle damaged the windscreen of a government bus at Thoppampattianur Pirivu near Annur by pelting stones at it on Wednesday. The police are on the lookout for the accused.
