More than 300 Vinayagar idols installed by Hindu organizations and the public across Coimbatore's Thudiyalur, Kavundampalayam, and Periyanaickenpalayam areas were taken in a vehicle procession and immersed on the third day at Vellakinaru. With the natural pond dry due to drought, the Corporation had filled an artificial 20-foot-deep pond with water specially for the immersion. Corporation staff and Fire and Rescue Services personnel entered the water to receive the idols and immerse them. Heavy police security was deployed throughout the procession and immersion.
