The Saravanampatti police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman who was found dead at her residence in Chinnavedampatti, Coimbatore, amid ongoing divorce proceedings and a reported family dispute.
A 32-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Chinnavedampatti in Coimbatore on Sunday, with the Saravanampatti police registering a case and launching an investigation.
The deceased was identified as Pavithravanchi, daughter of Sundararaj, 62, a resident of Akkammal Avenue in Shakti Nagar, Chinnavedampatti.
According to the police, Pavithravanchi had married Sarangapani, but differences had reportedly arisen between the couple. She had separated from her husband about three years ago and had since been living with her father along with her daughter.
Police said she had also initiated legal proceedings to obtain a divorce. She was reportedly under emotional distress amid the family dispute and the ongoing legal proceedings.
On Saturday night, Pavithravanchi went to her bedroom on the first floor of the house. When she did not come downstairs on Sunday morning, her father became concerned and went upstairs to check on her.
As the room was locked from inside and there was no response, family members, with the help of neighbours and friends, gained entry into the room and found her dead.
The Saravanampatti police were informed and the body was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
