In Rathinapuri, police arrested Karthik Raja, 34, a native of Vikramasingapuram in Tirunelveli district. He was allegedly found consuming alcohol while sitting beneath the Roots Bridge, causing inconvenience to members of the public. He was arrested by Rathinapuri Sub-Inspector Alagumari Selvam.
In another incident in Peelamedu, police arrested Kalidas, 23, and Rathinam, 19, both from Kolliiruppu in Cuddalore district. The two were allegedly consuming alcohol near a park in Chandragandhi Nagar, Sowripalayam, and creating a disturbance in the area. Peelamedu Sub-Inspector Arul Perumal arrested the duo.
Police have warned that strict action will be taken in accordance with the law against those who consume alcohol in public places and cause nuisance.
