A 76-year-old woman staged a protest outside the Coimbatore District Collectorate on Monday, seeking departmental action against RDO Maruthi Priya for allegedly acting with bias to KPR group in a property dispute involving her ancestral property.
Coimbatore: A 76-year-old woman staged a dharna outside the Coimbatore District Collectorate on Monday, alleging that a private business group had illegally acquired her family’s ancestral property and that revenue officials had acted in favour of the organisation in the dispute.
During the protest, Mani, the elderly woman was seen holding a placard displaying the court order number and alleging that RDO Maruthipriya had acted in a biased manner in favour of KPR Group.
She claimed that a case concerning the property was pending before the Madras High Court. She alleged that although the court had granted an eight-week period in connection with the matter, the South Coimbatore Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) cancelled the patta standing in her name the very next day, without obtaining her documents or giving her an opportunity to present her explanation.

She sought departmental action against the official and urged the authorities to take necessary remedial measures in the matter.
Following the protest, police personnel held talks with Mani and subsequently took her to the District Collector. She submitted a petition outlining her allegations and seeking action on her grievances.
