Coimbatore: In a move aimed at improving traffic circulation and enhancing road safety along one of the city’s busiest arterial stretches, the Coimbatore City Police will introduce a trial U-turn on Avinashi Road in front of Brindhavan Auditorium near Chinniyampalayam. The experimental traffic arrangement will remain in force for 31 days, from July 29 to August 28.
The initiative forms part of the city’s ongoing efforts to decongest key junctions and ensure smoother vehicular movement on Avinashi Road, a corridor that witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day.
During the trial period, traffic officials will closely study vehicle movement and assess the effectiveness of the new U-turn. Based on the findings, the police will decide whether the arrangement requires further modifications before it is considered for permanent implementation.
To further strengthen pedestrian safety in the area, a Pelican Signal will also be installed near the Chinniyampalayam bus stop, enabling pedestrians to cross the road in a safer and more regulated manner. The combined measures are expected to improve both traffic efficiency and commuter safety in the locality.
The Coimbatore City Police have appealed to motorists to cooperate during the trial period by adhering to the revised traffic arrangements, which are intended to facilitate safer and more orderly movement for all road users.
