The Coimbatore City Police have declared several areas including Uppilipalayam, Race Course, Avinashi Road, Lakshmi Mills as temporary Red Zones and prohibited the operation of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles from July 21 - 23 as part of security arrangements for the Vice President's visit.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have imposed a temporary ban on the operation of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in several parts of the city as part of security arrangements for the visit of the Vice President of India.
Besides the areas where drone operations are permanently prohibited, Uppilipalayam, Race Course, Avinashi Road, Lakshmi Mills, GKNM Hospital, Hopes, CODISSIA, Peelamedu, SITRA, Nehru Nagar, Kalapatti, Chinniyampalayam and the surrounding localities have been declared temporary Red Zones.
The ban will be in force from 11 a.m. on July 21 to 11 a.m. on July 23, 2026, during which the operation of drones and other UAVs in the notified areas is strictly prohibited.
According to the police, the measure forms part of the security arrangements for the Vice President’s visit. The public has been urged to comply with the order, failing which strict legal action will be initiated against violators.
