Coimbatore Corporation Ward 22 DMK councillor Babu has announced his decision to quit the party, alleging the absence of internal democracy and adequate recognition for grassroots workers, besides calling for a probe into the alleged irregularities in the Semmozhi Park project.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Ward 22 councillor Babu has announced his decision to resign from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), alleging a lack of internal democracy and recognition for the contributions of grassroots party workers.
Addressing reporters in Coimbatore, Babu levelled several allegations against the party leadership, expressing dissatisfaction with the functioning of DMK’s Western Region in-charge Senthil Balaji. He alleged that the party was being administered like a corporate entity and claimed that the efforts of ordinary cadre were not being adequately recognised.
He further alleged that irregularities had occurred in the execution of the Semmozhi Park project in Coimbatore and urged the Tamil Nadu government to order a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
Babu also claimed that several DMK councillors and party functionaries were likely to resign from the party within the next week.
