Coimbatore: An additional building for the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Irugur near Sulur, constructed at a cost of around ₹60 lakh, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay through video conferencing on Tuesday. Sulur MLA Sukumar said the expanded facility would significantly enhance healthcare services for residents in the area.
As part of the statewide initiative, the Chief Minister inaugurated newly completed Primary Health Centre buildings across Tamil Nadu through video conferencing. In Coimbatore district, the additional PHC buildings at Irugur and Mopperipalayam, under the Sulur Assembly constituency, were declared open for public use.

Earlier, Sukumar, along with government officials and party functionaries, participated in the local inauguration ceremony at the Irugur PHC by lighting the traditional lamp and formally opening the additional building.
Speaking to reporters, the MLA said the Chief Minister had also launched the Nalam app, aimed at improving access to healthcare services for people across all sections of society. He added that the initiative had received a positive response from the public.

Sukumar further said that nearly one lakh people reside in and around Irugur and that the existing Primary Health Centre had become insufficient to cater to the area’s growing healthcare needs.
