Rs 9.90 Crore Para Olympic Sports Complex in Koundampalayam - Corporation Commissioner Inspects Progress

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja inspected the construction of a world-class Para Olympic multi-sports complex being built at a cost of Rs 9.90 crore across 110 acres in Koundampalayam Jeeva Nagar. He instructed officials to expedite the completion of work.


Coimbatore: A world-class Para Olympic multi-sports complex for persons with disabilities is being rapidly constructed at a cost of Rs 9.90 crore across approximately 110 acres in the Koundampalayam Jeeva Nagar area, falling under Ward No. 33 of the Coimbatore Corporation West Zone. This complex is being designed to international standards to accommodate differently-abled athletes and sportspersons.



Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja today (13.07.2026) personally visited and conducted a detailed inspection of the Para Olympic sports complex construction work. After examining the progress of construction activities, he instructed officials to complete the work expeditiously. This complex is expected to serve as an excellent training center for differently-abled athletes.

Earlier, the Corporation Commissioner visited Ward No. 20 in the North Zone's K.R.G. Nagar area to inspect canal desilting work. After listening to public grievances in the area, he instructed officials to prepare a suitable project estimate for establishing a corporation park there. He also emphasized that canal desilting work should be commenced quickly.



Subsequently, he instructed officials to prepare project estimates for establishing stormwater drains and borewells in the Poompuhar Nagar area under Ward No. 20. He appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness in the area.

Furthermore, the Corporation Commissioner personally visited and inspected the operations of the ABC Centre (Animal Birth Control Centre for stray dogs) functioning in Seeranaickenpalayam under Ward No. 75. He instructed officials to intensify the special Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) programme for street dogs.

During these inspections, several corporation officials were present including Assistant Commissioners Mohanasundari and Narmada, Assistant Executive Engineers Sathiyamurthy (Public Works) and Savitha, Corporation Veterinarian Varun Kumar, Zonal Health Officers Murugan and Radhakrishnan, Assistant Engineers Sakthivel and Karthikeyan, and Health Inspectors Rajendran and Saranya.
