Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 45.8 Feet; Thirumoorthy Dam at 32.95 Feet

Water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams in Tirupur district have risen due to continuous inflow. As of July 8, Amaravathi dam stands at 45.8 feet while Thirumoorthy dam is at 32.95 feet, bringing hope to farmers and residents.

Coimbatore: The water levels in two major reservoirs of Tirupur district - Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams - are steadily rising due to continuous water inflow. Water Resources Department officials have released the water level details of both dams as of July 8.

The Amaravathi dam, which has a total storage capacity of 90 feet, currently has a water level of 45.8 feet. The water level is gradually increasing as continuous inflow is being received from the catchment areas of the dam. Water Resources Department officials stated that the dam is receiving an inflow of 297 cubic feet per second, while 30 cubic feet per second is being released from the dam.

The Thirumoorthy dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district, has a total storage capacity of 60 feet. Currently, the dam's water level stands at 32.95 feet. The dam is receiving an inflow of 445 cubic feet per second. At the same time, 1090 cubic feet per second is being released from the dam, according to Water Resources Department officials.

With the southwest monsoon season having commenced, both dams are receiving continuous water inflow due to rainfall in the Western Ghats region. As a result, the gradually rising water levels in the dams are providing hope to farmers and the general public.

Both dams serve as crucial sources of drinking water and agricultural irrigation for Tirupur and surrounding areas. With the continuous water inflow, irrigation facilities are expected to be excellent this year.
