Madukkarai police arrested two men for allegedly sharing defamatory content about Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and Chief Minister Vijay on social media following a complaint lodged by a local party functionary.
Coimbatore: The Madukkarai Police have arrested two men for allegedly posting defamatory content about Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and Chief Minister Vijay on Facebook.
According to the police, the accused allegedly shared a morphed image of Vijay along with derogatory remarks on the social media platform.
Based on a complaint lodged by Balaji, a TVK functionary from Madukkarai, Inspector Rajendraprasad initiated an investigation into the matter.
Police identified the accused as Vishnu Prasad (36) and Manoj Kumar (37), both residents of Kurumbapalayam near Madukkarai.
Police said Vishnu Prasad is engaged in the catering contract business, while Manoj Kumar works as a driver. Both were arrested in connection with the case.
According to the complainant, the two are associated with the DMK. However, the police have not officially confirmed any political affiliation of the accused.
Further investigation is under way.
