Valparai’s Chinnakalar Tops Coimbatore District Rainfall Chart with 36 mm

Valparai recorded the highest rainfall in Coimbatore district during the past 24 hours, with Chinnakalar receiving 36 mm. Siruvani Adivaram also recorded moderate rainfall, while the district registered an average rainfall of 6.91 mm.


Coimbatore: Valparai recorded the highest rainfall in Coimbatore district during the 24-hour period ending at 7.30 a.m. on July 5, with rain gauge stations across the hill region receiving moderate rainfall.

Among all stations in the district, Chinnakalar recorded the highest rainfall at 36 mm, followed by Sholayar with 29 mm, Valparai PAP with 21 mm, Valparai Taluk with 19 mm and Cinchona with 16 mm. All these stations recorded moderate rainfall.

Outside the Valparai region, Siruvani Adivaram received 19 mm, also falling under the moderate rainfall category. Madukkarai Taluk recorded 5 mm, Pollachi Taluk Office received 4 mm and PWD IB, Makkinampatti registered 3 mm, all classified as light rainfall.

Very light rainfall was recorded at Aliyar (2 mm), PWD Office, Vaarapatti (2 mm), BDO Office, Thondamuthur (2 mm), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (0.8 mm) and Coimbatore International Airport, Peelamedu (0.2 mm).

No rainfall was reported from Mettupalayam, Pillur Dam, Annur, P.N. Palayam, Coimbatore South Taluk, Sulur, Railway Station, Podanur, Kinathukadavu Taluk and Anaimalai Taluk.

According to the district administration's rainfall report, Coimbatore recorded a cumulative rainfall of 159 mm during the period, with an average rainfall of 6.91 mm across the district, which falls under the light rainfall category.
