Kacheguda–Murdeshwar Bi-Weekly Express Extended to Kumta; Coimbatore Among Key Stops

The extension is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Hyderabad, western Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the coastal districts of Karnataka by providing direct rail connectivity to Kumta in Karnataka.


Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced the extension of the Kacheguda–Murdeshwar–Kacheguda Bi-Weekly Express services up to Kumta in Karnataka, providing improved rail connectivity for passengers travelling between Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

According to an official notification, Train No. 12789 Kacheguda–Kumta Bi-Weekly Express will depart Kacheguda at 6.05 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday and reach Kumta at 2.40 p.m. the following day.

In the return direction, Train No. 12790 Kumta–Kacheguda Bi-Weekly Express will leave Kumta at 3.25 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday and arrive at Kacheguda at 11.40 p.m. the next day.

The train will continue to operate via Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, Mangaluru Central and Murdeshwar before terminating at Kumta.

At Coimbatore Junction, Train No. 12789 will arrive at 12.57 a.m. and depart at 1 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Train No. 12790 will arrive at 3.45 a.m. and depart at 3.50 a.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.

The extended service will comprise AC First Class, AC Two-Tier, AC Three-Tier, Sleeper Class, General Second Class and Luggage-cum-Brake Van coaches, including accommodation for differently abled passengers.
