Coimbatore: Water levels in the Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district have risen significantly due to continuous water inflow following sustained rainfall in the catchment areas.

The Amaravathi dam in Tiruppur district has a total storage capacity of 90 feet. Due to continuous water inflow from the catchment areas, as of July 30, the water level in the dam has risen to 38.29 feet. The inflow into the dam stands at 94 cubic feet per second. Water Resources Department officials stated that no water is currently being released from the dam.

Similarly, the Thirumoorthy dam located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district has a storage capacity of 60 feet.
