Water Levels Rise in Azhiyar, Parambikulam, Solayar Dams Due to Southwest Monsoon

Water inflow continues to increase in Coimbatore district dams due to the southwest monsoon. Azhiyar dam has reached 56.3 feet, Parambikulam 15.35 feet, and Solayar 74.17 feet water levels. Water Resources Department officials have released these details regarding the current status of the reservoirs.

Coimbatore: Water inflow in major dams across Coimbatore district is steadily increasing as the southwest monsoon continues to bring rainfall. Water Resources Department officials have reported that water levels are gradually rising in three key reservoirs - Azhiyar, Parambikulam, and Solayar dams.

The Azhiyar dam, located near Anaimalai, has a total capacity of 120 feet. The southwest monsoon continues to bring rainfall to the dam's catchment areas. As a result, the dam is receiving an inflow of 168 cubic feet per second. As of July 30, the water level in the dam stands at 56.3 feet. Currently, 350 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam.

The Parambikulam dam near Pollachi has a total capacity of 72 feet. Due to continued southwest monsoon rainfall in the catchment areas, the dam is receiving an inflow of 124 cubic feet per second. As of July 30, the water level in the dam has risen to 15.35 feet. Currently, 435 cubic feet per second of water is being discharged from the reservoir.

The Solayar dam near Valparai has a total capacity of 160 feet. Rainfall in the dam's catchment areas has resulted in an inflow of 549 cubic feet per second. As of July 30, the water level in the dam stands at 74.17 feet. Currently, 5 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam, according to Water Resources Department officials.

With the southwest monsoon performing well, water inflow in the district's dams continues to increase. This is expected to improve irrigation facilities for farmers. Water Resources Department officials are continuously monitoring the water levels in these dams.
