Reserved Constituency MLA Kamali Joins TVK Cabinet as Minister

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam MLA Kamali, representing reserved Avinashi constituency in Tiruppur district, inducted into Tamil Nadu cabinet today during second phase of ministerial appointments.

Coimbatore: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA Kamali, who represents the reserved Avinashi Assembly constituency in Tiruppur district, has been inducted into the Tamil Nadu cabinet following the announcement of the party's second phase of ministerial appointments.

Kamali took oath as minister today along with several other newly inducted cabinet members as part of the expanded TVK government. With the latest expansion, the TVK administration has reportedly completed the announcement of its full council of ministers, including representatives from various districts across Tamil Nadu.

The first-time MLA emerged victorious in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from the Avinashi (SC) constituency, defeating her principal rival from the DMK alliance by a significant margin. Her victory was considered one of the notable wins for TVK in the western region of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Kongu belt.

Her induction into the cabinet has been welcomed by TVK cadres and supporters across Avinashi and Tiruppur district, with party workers celebrating the elevation of a first-time legislator to the ministerial post. Local party functionaries organized celebrations in several parts of the constituency following the announcement.

The ministerial berth for Kamali is seen as party's commitment to representing constituencies across the western districts and her appointment also reflects the party's focus on ensuring representation for reserved constituencies in the cabinet.

Details regarding the portfolio allocation are expected to be announced shortly by the Chief Minister's office. Party sources indicated that the new ministers would assume charge of their respective departments in the coming days.
