Coimbatore Police Ready to Launch Anti-Narcotics Squad Following Chief Minister's Announcement

Coimbatore City and District Police have completed preparations to establish the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Singap Penn Special Task Force as announced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The teams comprising Sub-Inspectors and constables are ready for deployment with dedicated vehicles.

Coimbatore: Following Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's assumption of office, the Coimbatore City and District Police have completed all groundwork to launch specialized task forces aimed at combating drug-related crimes and enhancing women's safety across the state.

Chief Minister Joseph Vijay had made three key announcements after taking charge. Among them was the creation of the "Singap Penn Special Task Force" across Tamil Nadu, equipped with adequate police personnel, staff, and state-of-the-art facilities to enhance women's security. This force is designed to respond swiftly and take appropriate action on complaints related to women's safety.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced the formation of an Anti-Narcotics Squad in all districts to prevent and take strict action against drug-related crimes. The announcement specified one squad per district and two squads for metropolitan cities.

Following these directives, senior officials from Coimbatore City and District Police have been actively working on establishing both the Anti-Narcotics Squad and the Singap Penn Special Task Force.

Speaking about the preparations, Coimbatore City Police officials stated that work for establishing the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Singap Penn Special Task Force has been completed. The police personnel are now in a state of readiness for deployment.

According to the plan, Coimbatore City will have dedicated teams for both the South and North zones. Each zone will have one Sub-Inspector leading a team of five police constables, with one dedicated vehicle assigned to each team.

Similarly, the district police have prepared one Sub-Inspector-led team comprising five constables for the district jurisdiction. These teams will begin operations immediately after the Chief Minister officially launches the program, police officials confirmed.

The initiative is expected to strengthen law enforcement capabilities in addressing drug trafficking and substance abuse while simultaneously ensuring better protection for women through specialized rapid response teams across Tamil Nadu.
