Coimbatore: The Directorate of Government Examinations (TNDGE) on Thursday announced the Tamil Nadu Class 12 (+2) public examination results for 2026. School Education Secretary B. Chandra Mohan released the results, stating that the State has recorded an overall pass percentage of 95.20%.

A total of 7,91,654 students appeared for the examinations, including 4.1 lakh girls and 3.7 lakh boys. The exams were conducted from March 2 to March 26 across 3,412 examination centres in Tamil Nadu.
This year’s pass percentage is slightly higher than last year’s 95.03%. And, Erode district emerged as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 98.8%, while Sivaganga secured the second position with 98.05%.

Out of the 7,536 schools in the State, 2,639 schools recorded a 100% pass result, including 489 government schools. Private schools achieved the highest pass percentage at 98.72%, followed by government-aided schools at 96.14% and government schools at 92.16%.
As many as 16,024 students scored centum in at least one subject. Computer Science recorded the highest number of centums, with 6,945 students scoring full marks. In Tamil, 83 students secured centum marks.
Following the announcement of the results, colleges in Coimbatore have started witnessing a huge rush of students seeking admissions. While many students had already completed preliminary registrations before the publication of results, arts and science colleges across the city are now overflowing with students arriving to collect admission forms and submit filled-in applications.
Students, accompanied by their parents, were seen visiting several leading colleges to secure seats in preferred courses, particularly in commerce, computer science and IT-related streams. College campuses are expected to remain crowded over the next few days as the admission process gathers pace across the city.
Following the removal of the Class 11 public examination this year, an arrear examination was conducted in which 20,444 students appeared and 8,491 cleared the exams.
