In Support of TVK, Congress Protests Against BJP and Governor in Coimbatore

Congress cadres staged a protest in Coimbatore condemning the BJP-led Union Government and Governor R.N. Ravi, alleging attempts to delay inviting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to form the government despite emerging as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Coimbatore:Following Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam ‘s (TVK)victory in 108 constituencies in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Congress party extended support to the party along with its five MLAs. However, with 118 seats required to prove a majority in the Assembly, uncertainty continues over government formation.

TVK leaders had reportedly met the Governor and urged him to invite the party to form the government, assuring that they would prove their majority on the Assembly floor.

However, as no invitation has been extended so far, Congress cadres across Tamil Nadu have been staging protests condemning the Governor’s stance.

As part of the statewide protest, the Coimbatore District Congress Committee organised a demonstration in front of the Coimbatore District Collectorate. More than 50 party workers participated and raised slogans against the Governor, demanding that TVK be immediately invited to form the government.

Protesters also accused the BJP-led Union Government and the Governor of acting against democratic principles and demanded the Governor’s resignation.
