In Coimbatore district assembly elections, 152 out of 183 candidates lost their deposit amount. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged victorious in 6 constituencies, leading the district. Multiple party candidates including Naam Tamilar Katchi forfeited their deposits in a significant political shift.

Coimbatore: Out of 183 candidates who contested in the Coimbatore district assembly elections, 152 candidates have lost their deposit amount, according to information released recently. This reflects a major political transformation at the district level.

Coimbatore district comprises 10 assembly constituencies including Mettupalayam, Kaundampalayam, Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South, Thondamuthur, Singanallur, Sulur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, and Valparai. In these elections, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam captured 6 constituencies, creating a historic lead.

In a shocking development, AIADMK, which was considered a stronghold in Coimbatore, won only in the Thondamuthur constituency. This is viewed as a major setback for the party. DMK proved its strength by winning 3 constituencies - Valparai, Pollachi, and Coimbatore South.

In vote share analysis, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leads with 34.7 percent of votes. Following this, DMK secured 31.49 percent, AIADMK got 27.57 percent, and Naam Tamilar Katchi obtained 3.4 percent of the votes.

In this election where 183 candidates contested, a maximum of 31 candidates competed in Coimbatore South constituency, while a minimum of 5 candidates contested in Kinathukadavu constituency. This demonstrates the keen interest of various political parties.

After vote counting, only candidates from DMK, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, AIADMK, and their alliance parties were able to recover their election deposit amount. All other candidates lost their deposits.

A total of 152 candidates, including 10 candidates from Naam Tamilar Katchi, have lost their deposit amount. This has resulted in significant financial losses for smaller parties and independent candidates. These election results mark a notable transformation in Coimbatore district politics.
