Coimbatore Airport Records 5.15 percent Growth Despite Challenges

Coimbatore International Airport achieved a remarkable 5.15 percent passenger growth in the 2025-26 financial year compared to 2024-25, despite facing multiple challenges including flight cancellations, Iran war tensions, and fuel-related issues during the year.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore International Airport has registered a significant milestone by recording a 5.15 percent growth in passenger traffic during the recently concluded 2025-26 financial year compared to the previous fiscal year 2024-25.

According to official data, the airport handled a total of 32,53,190 passengers during the 2024-25 financial year, comprising 2,63,385 international passengers and 29,89,805 domestic passengers. This growth came despite several challenges faced during the fiscal period.

Following calculations conducted after the financial year ended on March 31, 2026, the airport recorded a total passenger count of 34,21,228 for the 2025-26 period, including 2,97,760 international passengers and 31,22,985 domestic passengers.

The 2025-26 financial year presented multiple obstacles for the aviation sector. IndiGo airlines cancelled several flights during this period, while the latter part of the year saw tensions arising from the Iran war situation and fuel-related challenges impacting operations across the industry.

Despite these adversities, the 5.15 percent growth recorded at Coimbatore International Airport is being viewed as a remarkable achievement by industry observers and aviation authorities. The consistent increase in passenger traffic demonstrates the growing importance of the airport as a vital connectivity hub for the region.

It is noteworthy that upgrade measures have been initiated at the airport to further enhance its infrastructure and services to accommodate the increasing passenger volume and improve overall travel experience.
