Brother Attacks Sibling with Sickle During Drunken Brawl Near Dharapuram, Flees Scene

Coimbatore: A violent altercation between two brothers under the influence of alcohol near Dharapuram has left one critically injured and the other on the run. Alangiyam police have registered a case and launched an intensive search operation for the accused.



The incident occurred at Vinayagapuram area on Aatchiyur Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of Alangiyam police station in Tiruppur district. Chandrasekar, 50, son of Shanmugam from Manakkadavu area near Dharapuram, was attacked by his younger brother Senadipathi during what began as a casual conversation between the two siblings.

According to police sources, both brothers were residing together at Vinayagapuram on Aatchiyur Road. On the day of the incident, the brothers were reportedly sitting and talking when a heated argument erupted between them. The situation quickly escalated as tempers flared, fueled by alcohol consumption.

In a fit of rage, Senadipathi pulled out a sickle that he had concealed and viciously attacked his elder brother Chandrasekar. The attack left Chandrasekar with severe injuries, causing panic among the family members and neighbors who witnessed the incident.

Alarmed neighbors immediately rushed to Chandrasekar's rescue and arranged for emergency medical assistance. He was first transported via private ambulance to Dharapuram Government Hospital, where he received preliminary first aid treatment. Given the severity of his injuries, medical staff deemed it necessary to shift him to Tiruppur Government Hospital for advanced treatment and specialized care.

Following the attack, Senadipathi fled from the scene and has been absconding since. Alangiyam police were promptly informed about the incident and arrived at the location to investigate. Based on the complaint and preliminary investigation, they have registered a case against the accused brother.

A police team has been formed to track down and apprehend Senadipathi, who remains at large. Officers are conducting raids at possible hideouts and questioning family members and acquaintances to gather information about his whereabouts. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the violent confrontation between the siblings.

The incident has created a sensation in the locality, with residents expressing shock over the violent turn of events between brothers. Local sources indicate that such incidents of family disputes turning violent have been a growing concern in the area.

Police are urging anyone with information about Senadipathi's whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation. Meanwhile, Chandrasekar continues to receive treatment at Tiruppur Government Hospital, where doctors are monitoring his condition.
