VCK Functionary Files Complaint Against Vijay for Allegedly Influencing Children for Electoral Gains

A VCK functionary in Coimbatore has filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay, alleging he misused children's psychology for electoral advantage by urging them to persuade their parents to vote for him during his campaign speech.

Coimbatore: A complaint has been lodged in Coimbatore seeking action against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay for allegedly misusing children's psychology for electoral gains.

During his final campaign rally in Chennai on the 21st, TVK leader Vijay made controversial remarks asking children to insist their parents vote for him, comparing it to how children adamantly demand chocolates or Kinder Joy from their parents. This political statement has drawn criticism for potentially affecting children's mental well-being.

Balakrishnan, District Organizer of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) volunteer wing from the Ganapathy area in Coimbatore, submitted a complaint to the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner today regarding this matter. In his complaint, he stated that after hearing Vijay's speech, his 5-year-old son insisted that he vote for Vijay. When he refused, the child became stubborn, refused food, and cried continuously. Eventually, Balakrishnan felt compelled to lie to his son, telling him that he had indeed voted for TVK. The child has been crying, saying he won't eat if "Vijay Uncle" doesn't win, causing immense mental distress to the parent.

The complaint emphasizes that planting such thoughts in the tender minds of children for electoral advantage constitutes a punishable offense under the Representation of the People Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Balakrishnan has demanded appropriate action against Vijay for engaging in such politically immature provocation. He has also requested the immediate removal of those video clips of Vijay's speech from social media platforms. The complaint mentions that he has also sent a complaint to the Election Commission and warns that he will approach the court if action is not taken. Vijay's statement has now sparked a major debate in Tamil Nadu politics.
