Model Voting Begins in Coimbatore Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026

Model voting commenced in Coimbatore district ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. The exercise was conducted in the presence of authorized political party representatives at polling stations across 10 constituencies with 3,540 polling centers set up for 27.44 lakh voters.


Coimbatore: Model voting exercises commenced across Coimbatore district on Tuesday morning as preparations reached their final stage for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, scheduled to be held today. The voting process is set to take place from 7 AM to 6 PM across all polling stations in the district.

The Election Commission and district administration have implemented various measures to ensure 100% voter turnout. According to the arrangements, Coimbatore district's 10 assembly constituencies have a total of 27,44,472 registered voters, with 3,540 polling centers established across the district. Additionally, one model polling station has been set up for each constituency to demonstrate the voting process.

The district administration has identified 182 sensitive polling stations in Coimbatore where additional security measures have been deployed to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of elections. These locations will be monitored closely throughout the voting process.

The model voting exercise was conducted in the presence of authorized representatives from all recognized political parties. Booth agents witnessed election officials casting model votes to verify that all electronic voting machines and systems were functioning properly. The officials also addressed queries and clarified doubts raised by political party representatives during the demonstration.

Following the successful completion of the model voting exercise, regular voting is scheduled to commence at 7 AM. All necessary arrangements have been made at respective polling centers to facilitate voters to cast their votes in an orderly manner. Voters are expected to queue up systematically to exercise their democratic right.

The district administration has ensured adequate facilities including drinking water, seating arrangements, and separate queues for senior citizens and persons with disabilities at all polling stations to make the voting process smooth and convenient for all voters.
