Pollachi V. Jayaraman met the Election Officer and Pollachi Sub-Collector, alleging that ruling party members were spreading false propaganda through campaign vehicles and social media in the Pollachi Assembly constituency.
Coimbatore: Pollachi V. Jayaraman, the NDA candidate contesting from Pollachi Assembly constituency, submitted a complaint petition to the Returning Officer and Pollachi Sub-Collector regarding alleged false campaigning in the constituency.
In his complaint, Jayaraman alleged that members of the ruling party, sensing certain defeat in Pollachi, had arranged campaign vehicles in the names of independent candidates and were spreading misleading propaganda among voters.
He further alleged that false messages were also being circulated through social media platforms and urged officials to take immediate action against those involved.
The candidate also requested authorities to cancel permissions granted to such campaign vehicles and ensure a fair and transparent election process in the constituency.
Meanwhile, the Pollachi constituency is witnessing a keen contest between veteran leader Jayaraman and Secular Progressive Alliance candidate Nithyanandan.
Jayaraman is considered a seasoned leader in the constituency and has enjoyed electoral success in Pollachi for over two decades. He is also believed to command a strong traditional vote base, with many voters consistently supporting both him and the AIADMK’s Two Leaves symbol over the years.
On the other hand, the DMK-led alliance has fielded Nithyanandan, who belongs to alliance partner Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK). He is contesting his first election and is expected to rely on alliance strength and anti-incumbency sentiments.
With Jayaraman banking on his long-standing rapport with voters and Nithyanandan seeking to make inroads as a fresh face, Pollachi is emerging as one of the tightest contests in the region.
