Coimbatore: Former Minister and AIADMK candidate for Thondamuthur constituency SP Velumani showcased traditional Tamil martial art silambam while campaigning in the Kuniyamuthur Idayarpalaiyam area on Thursday, adding a cultural touch to his election campaign.



Velumani has been actively engaged in intensive door-to-door canvassing across various localities in the Thondamuthur constituency, directly meeting voters and seeking their support for the upcoming elections.



As part of his ongoing campaign efforts, Velumani visited the Idayarpalaiyam area in Kuniyamuthur today, where he interacted with local residents and sought their votes. During the visit, he was accorded a traditional welcome by AIADMK supporters who performed silambam, the ancient Tamil martial art involving stick fighting.

In a spontaneous gesture that delighted the gathered crowd, Velumani joined children in performing silambam, twirling the traditional fighting stick with skill. The former minister's participation in the traditional art form drew enthusiastic responses from voters present at the venue.
