Karpagam College hosts 7th National Mini Bike Racing Championship RIVALS'26

The Mechanical Engineering Department of Karpagam Institute of Technology organized the 7th National Mini Bike Racing event RIVALS'26 on March 18, 2026. Engineering students from colleges across India participated in design, fabrication and racing competitions across three categories with multiple teams winning awards.


Coimbatore: The Mechanical Engineering Department of Karpagam Institute of Technology successfully conducted the 7th National Mini Bike Racing Championship – Design, Fabrication and Competition (RIVALS'26) on March 18, 2026, at the college sports ground. This significant technical event was organized by "Mechnovators", the Mechanical Engineering Student Association, witnessing enthusiastic participation from engineering students representing various colleges across India.

The event was inaugurated by chief guest Bala Prasad, a multiple-time Indian Formula and Saloon Car Champion. In his address, he emphasized the critical importance of hands-on experience and innovative thinking in the field of automobile engineering.











In the 80 cc category, team "Wild Wheelers" from Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology secured the first prize. Team "Throttle-X" from Rathinam Technical Campus won the second prize. The Best Innovation Award in this category was presented to team "Turbo Flyers" from M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering.











In the 100 cc category, team "Phantom Fleet" from M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering claimed the first prize. Team "Sigma Hooligans" from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College won the second prize. The Best Innovation Award was given to team "Iron Pistons" from Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology.





In the Electric Vehicle category, team "Mech Mavericks" from Knowledge Institute of Technology secured the first prize. Team "Ace Tech" from Karpagam Institute of Technology won the second prize. The Best Innovation Award was presented to team "Off Road Renegades EV" from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.







The competition served as an excellent platform for young engineers to showcase their design capabilities, fabrication skills, and racing talents. As part of the event, a rally, vehicle exhibition, and intense racing competitions were conducted. Subsequently, prizes were distributed to the winning teams.

Participating students brilliantly demonstrated their technical expertise, innovative thinking, and teamwork. This reflects the advancement of practical learning in the automobile sector.

Several industry sponsors played crucial roles in the success of this event, including Yamaha – Gavin Motors, Coimbatore, Adharva Suzuki, SPS Holidays, and SSR Company. Additionally, "Third Eye Photography" served as the media partner, providing comprehensive coverage of the event.

The RIVALS'26 event continues to serve as a vital platform promoting knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration among young engineers, effectively working to bridge the gap between educational and industrial requirements.
