Millions of Liters of Water Wasted as Tirupur's Fourth Joint Drinking Water Scheme Pipeline Bursts

A burst pipeline in Tirupur's Fourth Joint Drinking Water Scheme has been wasting millions of liters of water for three days. Residents demand immediate action from the Municipal Corporation to fix the leak and conserve water.


Tirupur: The Tirupur Municipal Corporation's Fourth Joint Drinking Water Scheme is facing a significant issue as a burst pipeline has been wasting millions of liters of water. Local residents are urging the authorities to take immediate action to address the problem and prevent further water loss.

Tirupur Municipal Corporation, which serves approximately 1.3 million people across 60 wards, has been implementing its fourth drinking water project. This new scheme, sourcing water from the Mettupalayam area, complements the three existing joint drinking water projects in the city.

The pipeline burst occurred in the Kavilipalayam area on College Road, Tirupur. For the past three days, millions of liters of water have been wasted due to this damage. The situation has not only resulted in significant water loss but has also made the road impassable for vehicles.



Residents claim that despite informing the Municipal Corporation officials about the issue, no action has been taken to rectify the problem. They express frustration over the authorities' apparent lack of urgency in addressing the situation, especially considering the Corporation's frequent appeals to the public for water conservation.

The local community is calling on the Tirupur Municipal Corporation to promptly repair the damaged pipeline and take measures to conserve water. They emphasize the irony of the situation where the public is repeatedly asked to use water judiciously while the authorities themselves are allowing such massive wastage to continue unchecked.

This incident has raised concerns about water management and infrastructure maintenance in Tirupur, highlighting the need for more responsive and efficient handling of such critical issues by the municipal authorities.
