Family Heirs Accuse AIADMK MLA, Ex-BJP District Chief, and Real Estate Owner of Land Fraud; Attempt Suicide at Collector's Office

Heirs of Kaalikonar family accuse AIADMK MLA, ex-BJP district chief, and real estate owner of fraudulently selling 7.9 acres in Coimbatore. A woman attempted suicide at the Collector's office, demanding immediate action.

Coimbatore: A dramatic scene unfolded at the Coimbatore District Collector's office when heirs of a family property attempted suicide, alleging land fraud by prominent political figures and a real estate developer.

The dispute centers around 7.9 acres of land in the Keeranatham area, owned by Kaalikonar. Thirty of his heirs, residing in Coimbatore and surrounding areas, have accused K.R. Jayaram, AIADMK MLA from Singanallur, Balaji Uthamaramasamy, former BJP Coimbatore district president, and Bhagwan Das, owner of Srivari Real Estate, of fraudulently selling the property.

The heirs had previously filed a complaint at the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office, stating that despite an ongoing court case, the accused were continuing to sell the land. Frustrated by the lack of action on their complaint, they gathered at the District Collector's office to submit a petition.

During this protest, a female heir doused herself with kerosene in a suicide attempt. Police personnel quickly intervened, pouring water on her and calming the situation. The protesters demanded immediate action against the three accused and called for measures to prevent any transactions related to the land until the court verdict.

The heirs also alleged that they were being threatened by the accused. In an unexpected turn, they questioned whether the District Collector understood Tamil and proceeded to voice their demands loudly in Hindi.

Labeling the AIADMK MLA K.R. Jayaram and former BJP district chief Balaji Uthamaramasamy as "thieves," the protesters insisted on receiving justice for their cause. The incident has heightened tensions surrounding the land dispute and drawn attention to the alleged involvement of political figures in the controversy.
